The Okanagan Recorder Orchestra (ORO), under the direction of Sue MacDonald, is a group of enthusiastic recorder players affiliated with the Society for Learning in Retirement (SLR).

We are associated with the American Recorder Society (ARS)  as one of only ten recorder orchestras in North America and the only one in Canada.
We play compositions ranging from the Renaissance period to contemporary as well as twentieth century blues and jazz.  We use several sizes of recorder - sopranino, soprano, alto, tenor, bass and contrabass.  In 2018 we changed our name from the Merrie Pipers to the Okanagan Recorder Orchestra (ORO) to better reflect the nature and make up of the orchestra.

In addition to regular practices at Missionwood Retirement Resort,  the Orchestra performs at seniors' homes, churches, social clubs and hospitals.
