PRESS RELEASE

OKANAGAN RECORDER ORCHESTRA CONCERT:
Presenting a group of seniors who love music, specifically playing recorders! These instruments range from the tiny sopranino to the soprano, alto, tenor, bass and the almost-5-foot contrabass. The Okanagan Recorder Orchestra (the only one in Canada!) is performing at St. Michael's Cathedral on Sutherland Ave in Kelowna on May 14 at 7 pm. The concert is entitled “Blowin’ Away” and you’ll be blown away by this group’s virtuosity and enthusiastic performance! Special guest will be the vocal group Opus 3. Admission by donation.

The Okanagan Recorder Orchestra (ORO) is a group of enthusiastic recorder players based in Kelowna, BC and directed by Peter DeRoche.

We are associated with the American Recorder Society (ARS)  as one of only ten recorder orchestras in North America and the only one in Canada.

Our repertoire includes various genres, ranging from Renaissance to contemporary.  Members come together to practice regularly using several sizes of recorder – sopranino, soprano, alto, tenor, bass and contrabass.

The Orchestra performs at seniors’ homes, churches, hospitals and at larger musical events.
